hogmanay: New Year's Eve celebrations
In Scotland, they really know how to celebrate things. Your New Year's Eve party's got nothing on Hogmanay, the traditional end-of-year/beginning-of-year celebration of Scotland. For some, it might start as early as a few days before New Year's, and last until a few days after!
"What might one enjoy on Hogmanay?" you ask? Alongside family and/or friends, one might enjoy food, gift-giving, dancing, drinking, fireworks, church services, and more.
The holidays will officially be basically over for us here in the States as of January 1st, but somewhere in Scotland, they might be just getting warmed up!
And yes, I know I said I was done for the year with my last post, but when I came across this word, obviously I knew I had to sneak it in.
